Second Grade

In May, lower school will have their 1st International week, where the countries of Cambodia, Iran, Poland, South America and Venezuela will be celebrated for their diverse people and rich cultures.  Second graders will participate in all the wonderful speakers, music, dancing, and presentations from varies countries.  Second graders are so excited to discover the culture and people of Cambodia with its rich history, beautiful landscapes, and wonderful celebrations.  Second graders are in the process of making a village, market, and lakeside, clay model of this beautiful country.

May also brings the monthly theme of China, where second graders look at the history, culture, people, and animals of China.  Second graders will be making art based on famous Chinese artists, listen to music, read Chinese folktales, learn about Tai-Chi, and sample Chinese food.

Second graders have been busily working everyday to take care of the plants in the greenhouse.  We have been monitoring the temperature, watering the plants, and planting new seeds.  We have planted flowers, vegetables, and catnip.

Lastly, we are continuing to work on our books about gardens, dogs, vacations, the beach, and going green.  Second graders are finding it fun to become an author and illustrator of their own book.  The second graders are enjoying every minute.  They are looking forward to sharing their books with family, friends, and their extended day little friends.
