Welcome to Fourth Grade
MATH
This month we will be working on addition, subtraction of fractions with like and unlike denominators.
READING
We will be completing George Washington Socks and start The Cay.
GRAMMAR
We will be using more pronouns and adverbs in our writing.
WRITING
Our poetry books will be completed. We are writing our mold reports and will be working on descriptive and persuasive writing.
SCIENCE
After our mold presentations we will cover nutrition and oceanography. We look forward to meeting our pen pals at the Science Fair held at West Chester Friends School
SOCIAL STUDIES
We will be learning about South Africa for our all school international study.
We will be learning about our state government, how a bill becomes a law and other, interesting facts about our sate. Do you know why the Great Dane is PA’s state dog?
Special Events
May 3 to 7 - International study week - 4th and 5th grades study South Africa.
May 4 - 1:45 - Family members are invited to hear our mold reports.
May 5 - We visit West Chester Friends to gather with several Friends schools for the annual science fair.
May 6 - 5:30 Fiesta
May 11 – Grandfriends Day
May 14 – 4th and 5th class trip to Gettysburg
May 19 – Spring Concert 7:00PM
May 26 – 4th graders partner with Kindergarten students to pack personal care products for local Shelters.
May 27 – Class trip to Harrisburg. 7:50AM to 6:30 PM. Traveling with students from West Chester Friends and Friends School Haverford.
