By My Side

Preschool is a big step for everyone in the family. Goshen helps make that transition smoother with By My Side, a gentle introduction to preschool for toddlers and their grownups.

Children learn to share, make friends and become more independent all with the comfort of a parent or caretaker close by. Tr. Jaime Shehwen leads the program with love and creativity, providing activities that help children explore and have fun! Below is a general schedule for the day:

9:30 Arrival: Children and their grown-ups arrive and are greeted by the teacher.

9:30 to 10 Free Play, Crafts and Story Time: Children may choose from a variety of toys and activities, paint at the easel, build with manipulatives or make a seasonal craft to take home.

10 to 10:15 Music with Tr. Chris: Children and their grown-ups gather for a sing-along, sometimes with movement, shakers and bells. Music always begins with a “Buenos Dias” and ends with “Circle of Friends.”

10:15 to 10:30 Snack Time: Snacks are provided by the school and may include water, juice, fruit, yogurt, crackers, cheese, and sometimes cookies! Snacks are healthy and nut-free.

10:40 to 11: Playground Fun: When weather permits, the group walks to our fenced preschool playground where they can swing, climb, slide, teeter, play in the playhouse and more. In the event of inclement weather, larger toys are set up in the classroom for free play.

Classes meet once per week for 12 weeks, from 9:30-11:00 am. Choose from Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays for your class day. To register, children must be between the ages of 18 months and 2 years, 11 months by the first day of class. By My Side is offered twice per year, in the fall (September through December) and the spring (January through April). Classes are limited to 15 grown-up/toddler pairs on each day. Tuition is $425 per session.
