Preschool

Goshen Friends' Preschool programs provide a nurturing, child-centered experience where children feel secure. Small class sizes (limited to 12 students) and a wide variety of materials and activities enhance learning and creativity. Children can explore, experiment, and problem-solve at their own level, learning and growing through play.

Objectives for Preschool children include developing social and emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. Among these are the ability to interact with others cooperatively, positive self-esteem, problem-solving using peaceful means, small-motor and large-motor skills, developing a favorable attitude for learning, and applying learned information to new situations. As Preschool progresses, simple language arts and math activities help spark curiosity and a love of learning.

Classes are held from 8:45 a.m. to 12 noon. The daily schedule for all Preschool classes includes free play, circle time, one-on-one and small group instruction, cleanup time, snack, and recess. Students also participate in specials classes in art, music, outdoor education, and Spanish.

Goshen Friends School offers four different Preschool programs:

Froggies

This two-day-per-week (Tuesday/Thursday) class is geared toward the youngest students at Goshen Friends. Students must be 2.7 years old by September 1 to enroll.

Ladybugs

Students in the two-day-per-week (Tuesday/Thursday) Ladybugs class are already 3 years old but are entering into their first Preschool experience.

Owls

The three-day-per-week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) Owls classroom is for students who have already turned 3 years old and are ready for a three-day experience. Some Owls may turn 4 during the school year.

Bears

Goshen Friends' oldest group of Preschoolers, the Bears, are experienced students (most are in their second year of Preschool) who will turn 4 during the course of the school year.
